Supreme Knight Carl Anderson

As supreme knight of the Knights of Columbus, Carl A. Anderson is the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of the world’s largest Catholic fraternal organization, which has more than 1.8 million members.

He is the co-author of the New York Times bestseller Our Lady of Guadalupe: Mother of the Civilization of Love and several other books. When he took over leadership of the Knights of Columbus in 2000, Mr. Anderson dedicated his administration to Our Lady of Guadalupe in her Basilica in Mexico City. Under his leadership, the Knights of Columbus have engaged in several Guadalupan undertakings, including cosponsoring a 2003 tour of a relic of St. Juan Diego's tilma, establishing a Marian Prayer Program dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, convening the first-ever International Marian Congress on Our Lady of Guadalupe in 2009, followed by the Guadalupe Festival held at the Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mr. Anderson is a member of several Vatican committees, including the Pontifical Academy for Life and the Pontifical Council for the Laity. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The Catholic University of America and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Mr. Anderson holds degrees in philosophy from Seattle University and in law from the University of Denver. He and his wife Dorian have five children.
